Landing page design that converts is the practice of building one focused page per campaign, where the headline repeats the promise of the ad, a single offer is backed by proof, and one clear action (a short form, a call or a WhatsApp chat) is easy to complete on a phone. For Google Ads and social campaigns in the GCC in 2026, it also means a fast mobile page, a native Arabic right-to-left version, and tracking that records every lead in GA4 and your ad platforms, with consent handled properly.
What a campaign landing page is#
A campaign landing page is a standalone page built for visitors from a specific ad, with one goal and no distractions. It is not your homepage: your website answers “who are you?”, while a landing page answers “what do I get, and what do I do next?”
Unbounce’s 2024 Conversion Benchmark Report, based on more than 41,000 landing pages and 464 million visitors, found a median conversion rate of 6.6 percent across industries, with average rates of 10.9 percent for paid search traffic and 12 percent for paid social.
The anatomy of a high-converting landing page#
1. Headline with message match#
Message match means the landing page headline repeats the words and promise of the ad that brought the visitor. If the ad says “Same-day AC maintenance in Riyadh”, the headline should say almost exactly that, in the ad’s language. Build one page or page variant per ad group or campaign theme.
2. A specific offer#
State what the visitor gets and why to act now: a free assessment, a fixed-price package, a consultation slot or a price list. “Contact us for more information” is not an offer.
3. Proof next to the decision#
Place real proof near the call to action: client logos you have permission to show, verified reviews, project photos, your commercial registration and a physical address. Never invent testimonials or numbers.
4. One primary call to action#
A call to action (CTA) is the button or link that asks the visitor to take the next step. Use one primary CTA, repeat it down the page, and remove the main navigation so visitors are not pulled away.
Message match and Google Ads Quality Score#
Google’s help centre defines landing page experience as “how relevant and useful your landing page is to people who click your ad.” It is one of three Quality Score components, alongside expected click-through rate and ad relevance. Google notes that Quality Score “isn’t an input in the ad auction”, but it is a diagnostic tool showing where your ads and pages trail other advertisers.
Under Google’s destination requirements, ads can be disapproved when the page does not work, cannot be crawled or redirects to a different domain.
Speed and mobile design#
Most campaign traffic arrives on phones. In Unbounce’s 2024 data, 83 percent of landing page visits came from mobile devices, yet desktop still converted 8 percent better. A study by Deloitte and 55, commissioned by Google and published on web.dev, found that a 0.1-second improvement in mobile site speed raised conversion rates by 8.4 percent for retail sites and 10.1 percent for travel sites.
Aim for Google’s “good” Core Web Vitals thresholds published on web.dev: Largest Contentful Paint within 2.5 seconds, Interaction to Next Paint of 200 milliseconds or less, and Cumulative Layout Shift of 0.1 or less.
Compress hero images, drop sliders above the fold, load only essential scripts and keep a thumb-friendly CTA visible without scrolling.
Write copy people can read in seconds#
Simple language converts better. Unbounce found that pages written at a 5th to 7th grade reading level converted at 11.1 percent, against 5.3 percent for professional-level writing. In Arabic, use clear Modern Standard Arabic with a Gulf-friendly tone, not a literal translation.
Arabic and RTL landing pages for the GCC#
An Arabic landing page should be designed right-to-left from the start, not flipped at the end. The W3C’s internationalisation guidance says that if the document direction is right-to-left, you should “add dir=”rtl” to the html tag”, and warns: “Never use CSS to apply the base direction.”
- Mirror the layout: logo, alignment, form labels and directional arrows.
- Make sure phone numbers, prices and Latin brand names display correctly inside Arabic text.
- Send Arabic ads to the Arabic page and English ads to the English page, each on its own URL.
- Show prices in local currency (SAR, AED, KWD, QAR, BHD, OMR or JOD).
WhatsApp as a call to action#
In Saudi Arabia, WhatsApp is the most widely used app: a 2022 survey of 1,220 adults by the Saudi Center for Public Opinion Polling, reported by Arab News, found that 92 percent of respondents used it.
WhatsApp’s official click-to-chat format is https://wa.me/ followed by the full number in international format, without leading zeros, brackets or dashes. Add a pre-filled message with ?text= and URL-encoded text, such as a line naming the campaign, so your team knows where the lead came from. Google Ads message assets, currently in beta, can also open a WhatsApp chat from search ads. Track WhatsApp clicks as a conversion and staff the number while ads run.
Form length: ask only what you need#
For most service campaigns, name, mobile number and one question about the need are enough; qualify the rest on the call. Pre-select the country code and use a thank-you page you can track.
Tracking: GA4, Google Ads conversions and Consent Mode v2#
- GA4 key events. Google renamed GA4 “conversions” to “key events” in March 2024, Search Engine Land reported, to distinguish them from Google Ads conversions. Mark form submissions, calls and WhatsApp clicks as key events.
- Google Ads conversions. Import key events or use the Google Ads tag so bidding learns from real leads. Google’s enhanced conversions for leads matches hashed (SHA256) lead data with offline sales you import later.
- Meta Pixel and Conversions API. The Conversions API sends events from your server, which Meta says are “processed like events sent using the Meta Pixel.” Check events are deduplicated.
- Consent Mode v2. Consent mode lets Google tags adjust to the visitor’s consent using four signals: ad_storage, analytics_storage, ad_user_data and ad_personalization. Google requires consent for users in the European Economic Area. In basic mode, tags do not fire until the visitor responds to the consent banner.
Local privacy law applies too. Saudi Arabia’s Personal Data Protection Law came into force on 14 September 2023, with a grace period that ended on 14 September 2024, according to Herbert Smith Freehills, and it generally requires prior consent before processing personal data. Jordan’s Personal Data Protection Law No. 24 of 2023 took effect on 17 March 2024, according to Clyde & Co. Add a short privacy notice to every form and take legal advice on your consent set-up.
A/B testing your landing pages#
A/B testing means showing two versions of a page to comparable visitors and keeping the one that converts better. Google Optimize stopped being available on 30 September 2023, so tests now run through Google Ads custom experiments, which Google lists as a way to test landing pages, Meta’s A/B test feature in Ads Manager, or a landing page platform. Change one element at a time, starting with the headline or offer.
Search vs social landing pages#
| Element | Google Ads (search) | Social campaigns (Meta, TikTok, Snapchat) |
|---|---|---|
| Visitor mindset | Actively looking for a solution | Interrupted while scrolling |
| Headline | Mirror the search keyword and ad | Mirror the creative’s hook and visual |
| Page length | Shorter; reach the offer fast | Often longer; build context and trust |
| Best CTA | Call, quote form or WhatsApp | WhatsApp, lead magnet or booking |

| Check | What good looks like |
|---|---|
| Message match | Headline repeats the ad’s promise and language |
| Offer | One specific offer, above the fold |
| Proof | Real reviews, logos or photos beside the CTA |

FAQ#
What makes a landing page convert?
A landing page converts when it matches the ad that brought the visitor, presents one specific offer, shows real proof near the call to action and makes one action easy on a phone. Speed, simple language and a short form or WhatsApp button help further. Unbounce’s 2024 benchmark puts the median conversion rate across industries at 6.6 percent.
Should I send Google Ads traffic to my homepage or a landing page?
Send it to a dedicated landing page. A homepage serves many audiences and offers many paths, while a landing page repeats the ad’s promise and asks for one action. Google rates landing page experience within Quality Score as how relevant and useful the page is to people who click your ad, so a focused page also helps you diagnose performance.
How many fields should a landing page form have?
For most service campaigns in the GCC, three or four fields are enough: name, mobile number and a short question about the need, plus email only if you will use it. Every extra field gives visitors a reason to leave. Qualify budget, timing and details on the follow-up call or WhatsApp conversation instead.
Is a WhatsApp button better than a form on GCC landing pages?
It usually works best alongside a form rather than instead of it. Some buyers prefer to start a chat, while others want to submit details and wait for a call. Use WhatsApp’s official wa.me link with a pre-filled message naming the campaign, track clicks as a conversion and make sure someone replies quickly while your ads run.
Do GCC websites need Google Consent Mode v2?
Google requires consent for users in the European Economic Area, so any GCC site receiving European visitors should implement Consent Mode v2. Local laws matter too: Saudi Arabia’s Personal Data Protection Law and Jordan’s Law No. 24 of 2023 generally require consent before processing personal data. Pair Consent Mode with a consent banner and take legal advice.
Do I need separate Arabic and English landing pages?
Yes, for most GCC campaigns. Arabic ads should lead to a native Arabic page built right-to-left, with dir=”rtl” on the html tag as the W3C recommends, and English ads to an English page. Separate URLs keep message match intact, make tracking cleaner and let you test each language on its own results.
